Library Shelver: up to 20 hours/week - $8.80/hour

Job Title: Library Shelver
Department: Public Services
Immediate Supervisor: Public Services Supervisor

Responsible for shelving and retrieving material and keeping library materials in proper order. Assists with various duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent or currently attending high school.
• Demonstrated attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, follow directions, and complete tasks.
• Familiarity with computers.
• Able to bend, stoop, lift and push for several hours at a time.
• Ability and willingness to meet scheduling requirements, including afternoons, nights and weekends.
• Self motivated, organized, efficient, adaptable, and productive.
Duties of the Position
• Sort and shelve all returned materials according to the Dewey Decimal System.
• Remove damaged materials from circulation for repair.
• Maintain materials in proper order on the shelves and maintain condition of shelves.
• Retrieve requested materials.
• Perform opening and closing tasks as assigned.
• Keep library buildings neat and in good order. This can include dusting, cleaning computers, and sweeping.
• Performs other duties as required.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
 Ability to operate standard office equipment, daily.
 Ability to stand for extended periods of time, occasionally.
 Ability to lift and move a minimum of 40 pounds, occasionally.
 Ability to push book trucks with materials on them, occasionally.
 Ability to perform repeated reaching, bending, climbing and squatting, daily.
 Ability to work in a team setting.
 Requires availability for extended hours as needed, including nights and weekends.
 Requires regular participation and attendance at events and trainings
 Requires ability to travel to off‐site locations, occasionally.
