The Troy-Miami County Public Library's community partner for April is the WACO Air Museum, the theme is "Take Off." Support is provided by the Troy Foundation.
The Friends of the Troy-Miami County Public Library will sponsor its spring book sale Friday, April 29 – Sunday, May 1, 2016, at the Miami County Fairgrounds, 650 North County Road 25A, Troy, Ohio. Sale times are 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Sunday.
A members-only preview night will be held 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, during which time NEW memberships may be purchased.
Admission is free. Most adult books are 50 cents each and children's and young adult books are 25 cents each. Specials, some books, videocassettes, CDs, collectibles, and miscellaneous items are individually priced. Sunday is $1 per bag with specials at half price.
Proceeds from the event are used for Summer Reading Club, literacy efforts and special purchases for the library. For additional information, call (937) 339-0502.
The Big Read is an annual celebration of reading and conversation in the Miami Valley. Participants are invited to read “Orphan Train” by Christina Baker Kline then join in discussions taking place March 6-April 16. You can check out the book at the library.
Join us for “Searching for Birth Relatives” at the Local History Library. This free program is at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29; learn how to search for birth parents, relatives, and children who have been adopted using the tools and databases available at the Local History Library. There are a limited number tickets available for the Character Breakfast benefiting Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program in Miami County. The buffet breakfast will be held from 9-11 a.m. March 12 at the Fort Piqua Plaza Ballroom and is being catered by Mrs. B’s. Children will be able to interact with the story book characters and will also be able to visit with the Piqua, Tipp City, West Milton, and Bradford mayors who will read stories to them. This story book character breakfast will delight children of all ages and will benefit all Miami County children enrolled in the program.

The purchase of the ticket will provide books for one child in the Imagination Library program for one year—a total of 12 books.

Stop in to see the Partners in Hope Traveling Art display at the Troy-Miami County Public Library, shown through the last week of January. The artwork displays how children and adults feel about poverty in three stages: past, present, and future. It shows their feelings as they go through “Getting Ahead” a Partners in Hope education program.

This fall, Troy-Miami County Public Library surveyed parents of children enrolled in Imagination Library. The responses were overwhelming and re-affirm the positive outcomes of this program. This is what parents have to say about Imagination Library in Miami County.
Since joining Imagination Library:

· 90 % say they spend more quality time together as a family
· 96 % say they feel their child will be more prepared for school

Tickets are now available for Pizza and Pals, a fundraiser to benefit the Miami County Affiliate of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. The event will be held Saturday, March 11 from 11:30 to 1 p.m. at Concord Elementary School, 3145 W. St. Rt. 718, Troy. Children will be able to interact with costumed characters including Pete the Cat, Elephant & Piggie, Ladybug Girl and Llama, Llama. This luncheon will delight children of all ages and photo opportunities with the characters will be available.
